
how to replace an image with a clipping mask in illustrator?
I have a project with many layers (most of them also has a mask) and I want to replace the "image of" a few layers with a new pic.

You need to make all the squares a Compound Path first. Select all the squares. Go to Object > Compound Path > Make (or Ctrl+8). Now select your new compound path and the image and choose Object > Clipping Mask > Make ( or Ctrl+7)
