How would I get a dinosaur fossil dated or legitimized?
Ok, so I bought a "dinosaur fossils" from the garage sale in Iowa. He said it was bone Stegosaurus, I feel that it is not just that one sold at a garage sale.
There are companies that fossil data can be for you if you send them a sample, but you must realize that: 1 It's really expensive, and 2 Often must destroy fossils of this to date.
Is it possible to find a dinosaur fossil in my backyard?

Is it worth a digging for a dinosaur fossil? Or it's highly unlikely to find one?
It is a possibility,if and only if the ground you live on has not been covered for millenia or has recently been brought up from great depth or even if you live in a canyon.
For instance, fossilized footprints are ofter found in streambeds.
